Knighton Visits Lincoln Bishop University
5 November 2026 · Lincoln, UK · English Language, TESOL & Education
On Thursday, 5 November 2026, Gokhan Koyunlu from Knighton Educational Consultancy Ltd visited Lincoln Bishop University in Lincoln. A key part of the day was speaking with the English Language and TESOL team to learn more about their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and the opportunities they offer prospective students.
The visit combined a conversation about language education with a look around campus, including the library, teaching spaces, student support and accommodation. These first-hand insights help Knighton give students a clearer picture of the place where they may study.

An education-focused university with deep teaching roots
Lincoln Bishop has a strong focus on education and teacher development, with a history that reaches back to 1862, when it began as a teacher training college. Today, education remains an important part of a wider university offering that also includes humanities, social sciences, business and other subjects.
Its campus is in historic uphill Lincoln, within walking distance of the cathedral and castle. For students interested in teaching, language learning or supporting learners, that combination of an established education tradition and a compact campus community is worth exploring. Meeting the English Language and TESOL team
Knighton spoke with the English Language team and gathered more information about the department’s courses. The discussion was particularly relevant to students considering English language teaching, education and work with multilingual learners.
The meeting photograph shows the BA (Hons) English Language & Teaching and Master’s Education with TESOL displays behind the conversation. These programmes provide two different starting points: an undergraduate route for students building their subject knowledge and teaching skills, and postgraduate study for those seeking to develop a deeper specialism.
Undergraduate: BA (Hons) English Language & Teaching
This three-year, full-time degree explores how English works, how it is acquired and how it is taught. Students study language structures, language in society and language learning, alongside practical teaching approaches and experience.
The course also addresses online teaching. Students can opt into the Trinity CertTESOL assessment through the Level 5 TESOL in Practice module, offering a route towards an additional recognised initial English-language teaching qualification. This is an optional assessment, rather than an automatic award with the degree.
The official page currently lists September 2027 entry. Applicants should confirm current academic and English-language requirements for their own qualifications. Explore BA (Hons) English Language & Teaching ↗
Postgraduate: MA Education with TESOL
The one-year, full-time MA is designed for aspiring and experienced educators interested in teaching English and supporting multilingual learners. TESOL means Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
Study connects education and language-learning theory with topics such as global English, teaching methodologies, policy and inclusion. The programme includes opportunities to observe or practise language teaching in person and online, and students develop their own research through a dissertation.
The course page lists January and September 2027 start dates, while also stating that applications for 2027 entry will open soon. Contact Knighton to check the application window and availability for your preferred intake. Explore MA Education with TESOL ↗

Looking beyond the course: campus and student life
Course choice also involves the everyday experience of studying. During the visit, Knighton explored the library and learning spaces and saw The Hub, a central point for student support. The photographs offer a practical view of the facilities alongside the department conversation.
The visit also included student accommodation. The room pictured is an example viewed on the day; students should check room types, availability, contracts and costs for their intended start date. A campus visit helps identify the right questions to ask before making a decision.
